Description

DISIMIT aims to bring Danish municipalities into the forefront of digital service integration through effective management of IT. The goal is to increase the municipalities' ability to create innovation with IT and to increase the degree of digitalisation through formulation and implementation of new IT management models and principles. DISIMIT will initially identify the managerial challenges that Danish municipalities face, and further, address these challenges in forms of formulating and implementing new IT-management models and principles, and finally evaluate the implementation process and use. Throughout the project, findings are disseminated to both research and practice. Different but comparable sources of data are collected at different stages of the project in order to evaluate implementation and the use of the models and principles applied. Systematically applied data sources and formalized procedures help us to specify possible learning paths for both practitioners and researchers. Thus, we wish to generate theoretical as well as practical knowledge, and the project involves both practitioners and researchers. DISIMIT is a crossdisciplinary research project consisting of co-operation between 9 experienced researchers from three different research disciplines; Political Science, Business Studies and Information Systems, three PhD students and one post.doc. Furthermore, 12 municipalities of varying sizes and structures, two consulting companies, and the Centre for IT Management and Use participate in the project. We will use Collaborative Practice Research as the overall research method, and throughout the project, researchers will actively engage and interact with the municipalities and consultancy companies involved. DISIMIT yields high quality research specifically within the areas of Information Systems, E-government research and Collaborative Practice Research.
